Winter Beauty Tips

by Sevan Tatoulian

Let’s face it, Canadian winters are tough! For over 3 months, we are locked up indoors in the hopes of shielding ourselves from the cold temperatures and harsh winds. That can definitely take a toll on your skin. So this winter, why not take charge of your beauty? Here are some tips to get you started!

1. Moisturize, moisturize & moisturize!

During the winter months, our skin tends to be drier. So no matter your skin type, it is essential to moisturize. Moisturizing soothes and protects, as well as helps restore skin’s natural lipid barrier. But be sure to find the right moisturizer for your specific skin type! Also add a gentle exfoliant to your weekly routine. Not only does it slough off dead, weather-beaten cells, but it also improves microcirculation.

Sevan’s favourite: Strobe Cream, M.A.C

2. Add a little sparkle

Don’t be afraid to try something different! How about a metallic nail polish? It will add glamour and style to any outfit.

Sevan’s favourite: Yves Saint Laurent #39 grey nail polish

3. Bright blush

Brighten dull skin with a touch of bright rosy blush on the apples of your cheeks blending outwards and along your temples.

Sevan’s favourite: Dolly Mix blush, M.A.C

4. Extreme eyelashes

False eyelashes are fun and flirty, perfect for any occasion! They add volume and length, are less costly than eyelash extensions, and non permanent.

Sevan’s favourite: False eyelashes, #36 M.A.C

5. Cherry lips

Red lipstick is a beauty must for all women. It instantly adds old Hollywood glam and just makes you feel fabulous. When wearing red lipstick, be sure to keep your eye makeup minimal – but do add some black liner.

Sevan’s favourite: Red Premiere lipstick # 752 Dior

    Hi Lara,
My favorite foundations are Airflash and DiorSkin Nude from Dior but you should go in store to find the right shade for you.

    Thanks!!

    Hi Sevan,

thanx for the advice. I just bought the airflash from dior at the bay downtown and I like it! The girl did a try on my face and she recommend me the color 301 Sand. But I also like the number 300 medium beige. Both colors looked good with my skin color and I almost dont see the difference. Do you think I should go with the 300 or 301?? Remember I’m tan but not dark tan and I have long black hair and brown black eyes.

    thanx again!!

    Hi Lara,
That’s great!! I also use the #301 at the moment but I could wear the # 300 too. Looks like we both have the same skin tone :) The difference between the two is the 301 has a little bit of pink undertones in it and the 300 is more olive. I really like the look of the 301 in pictures because it gives me a natural taned look with a hint of pink. So it’s really ok to wear either or but my guess is your true color would be the 300.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks!

    Hi again!!

waoooo!! So you wear the same color (301 sand)???What a coincidence!!! But tell me Sevan, isn’t the 301 Sand that its olive and the 300 that has a little bit of pink?? Thats what the girl told me and when she tried it on her white I saw the difference big time, but on my face not that much!! Oh by the way, do you work for dior or any other cosmetic company so I can go by from you instead??

    thanx!!!

Use a lot of warm (not hot) drinking water plus a soft but efficient cleanser to stop the pores clogging. As component of the greasy skin care routine, it’s essential to make use of a gentle cleanser rich in active plant nutrients. This reduces the chance of cleanser induced epidermis irritation, which could cause the essential oil glands to create even a lot more essential oil.
